Shape Memory Textile Centre
The
world first "Shape Memory Textile Centre" is
funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF),
the Hong Kong Government with $8 millions under
the strong support of leading companies including
Bondex International Ltd, Hong Kong Hi-Tec Enterprises,
Lai Tak Holdings Limited and TAL Apparel Ltd. Including
other sources, the centre has secured around 14
millions in developing smart textiles, namely, shape
memory textiles that can recover to their original
shapes when washed in hot water. The tailor-made
shape memory polymers can be used for textile finishing,
fiber and film making, which offer great opportunities
for smart products and have significant impact on
the textile/garment and other industries. |
